The electricity price tag.

When it comes to determining your electric rate, there are a lot of variables in the mix. But it shouldn’t be a mystery.

Rates

Rates

Local power companies (LPCs) offer several different power rates for businesses in the region. These rates are determined by the highest peak demand, your business type and the amount of electricity your business uses each month.

Fuel costs

Fuel costs

TVA purchases fuel — uranium, coal, oil and natural gas — to run its nuclear, fossil, combined cycle and combustion turbine plants. The price of these fuels rises and falls throughout the year, which means total monthly fuel costs vary from month to month.

Time of use

Time-of-use

Power use — and generation costs — fluctuate depending on time of day and season. Rates are typically higher during summer afternoons and winter mornings. You might save money by monitoring consumption and delaying higher energy use during peak times.

Programs like the General Manufacturing Credit, which is designed to bring economic growth and jobs to the Valley, and energy incentives help keep business customers viable.

Demand Response

Demand Response

Through Demand Response programs, qualified business participants use less energy when the demand for energy is high - like during extreme weather or energy emergencies - in exchange for a financial incentive.

Sales tax

Reduced sales tax
